Coors named to WGCA All-South Region team

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo University junior Marie Coors was named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Division II All-South Region team, which was unveiled Monday.

The honor marks Coors' second selection to the WGCA All-South Region team, after previously earning a spot on the squad in 2014 as a freshman.

Coors, the 2016 Sunshine State Conference Co-Player of the Year, led Saint Leo women's golf this season with a 75.08 stroke average over 26 rounds. She won the 2016 SSC Championship by six strokes over teammate Vilde Eriksen in second place, and placed eighth overall at the South Super Regional hosted by the University of West Florida.

Over the course of the 2015-16 season, Coors won two events with one other top-five finish, and logged a total of seven top-20 finishes.

Coors is one of nine Sunshine State Conference honorees on the squad, joining Annie Dulman, Hally Leadbetter, and Lexie Toth from Rollins; Aldana Foigel and Jamie Freedman from Nova Southeastern; Brittany LaPadula and Felicia Leftinger from Florida Tech; and Barry's Tilda Larsson.

Paloma Vaccaro (West Florida) and Elaine Wood (Montevallo) round out the 11-person All-South Region team.

Coors and the Saint Leo women's golf team open competition at the 2016 NCAA Division II Women's Golf National Championship on Wednesday, May 18, at CommonGround Golf Course in Aurora, Colo.
