Women’s golf adds Rumbaugh to spring roster

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo women's golf will start the spring portion of its 2015-16 schedule with a new face on the squad.

Junior Sabrina Rumbaugh joined the team for the start of practice in January, after transferring to Saint Leo from Division I Jacksonville University. Rumbaugh will make her collegiate debut this weekend at the Flagler College World Golf Invitational.

"We are pleased Sabrina will be joining us this spring," said Saint Leo Head Women's Golf Coach Tommy Baker. "She has a great deal of collegiate tournament experience and is an extraordinary competitor.  I think Sabrina will fit in really nicely with the culture of our women's golf program and complement and strengthen our current lineup."

Rumbaugh played two seasons for Jacksonville, finishing 11th at the 2015 Atlantic Sun Championship as a sophomore with rounds of 79-75-72 for a 227. The 2015 All-Atlantic Sun selection finished her sophomore campaign with a 75.82 stroke average, and finished sixth (226) at the Bearcat Spring Classic at Mission Inn in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., with her low round of 69. Rumbaugh also fired a 216 at the Florida International Pat Bradley Invitational, and was fourth overall.

During her freshman season (2013-14), Rumbaugh played in eight tournaments with a 78.87 stroke average. Her best finish was a fifth-place showing at the North Florida Intercollegiate, carding a final round of 68. She was 39th at that season's A-Sun championship.

A product of Fleming Island High School in Fleming Island, Fla., she qualified for the Florida state tournament in three seasons. She placed 11th at the event during her senior season, and was sixth at the 2012 Texas-Oklahoma Junior Open.
