Jakobsson second on leaderboard at Flagler Fall Slam

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Sophomore Amanda Jakobsson fired a three-under 69 and finished the day second on the individual leaderboard following Monday's first day of competition at the Flagler Fall Slam, held at the Marsh Creek Country Club on Anastasia Island.

The Lions carded an 11-over 299 on the par 72, 6062-yard Marsh Creek course, and were fourth overall after the first round.

THE LOW DOWN

  • Jakobsson finished the day one shot off the pace set by Florida Tech's Guro Rambjoer (-4, 68), and is two shots ahead of a group of three players – Florida Tech's Mae Cornforth, Barry's Tilda Larsson, and Montevallo's Elaine Wood – tied for third at one-under (71).
  • Junior Marie Coors, coming off an individual title at the Saint Leo Invitational last week, carded a three-over 75 on the day and is tied for 21st with Montevallo's Kirste Saltiel.
  • Sophomore Vilde Eriksen fired a four-over 76 on Monday, and heads into the second round tied for 23rd overall with seven other players.
  • Freshman Mao Young tallied a seven-over 79 in the first round and is tied for 46th, while junior Minta Yin shot a 12-over 84 and finished the day 76th overall.
  • Playing as an individual, freshman Alex Velez shot an eight-over 80 on Monday, and is tied for 57th on the leaderboard.

THE REST OF THE FIELD

  • Florida Tech leads the field of 18 teams with a one-under 287, with three golfers among the top eight – Rambjoer, Cornforth, and Felicia Leftinger (E, 72).
  • Montevallo trails Florida Tech by four strokes with a three-over 291, while Barry University is third with a five-over 293.
  • Following the Lions are Flagler (+12, 300), Armstrong State (+13, 301), and California Baptist (+16, 304).

COMING UP

The Lions return to Marsh Creek Country Club on Tuesday morning for the second and final round of the 36-hole Flagler Fall Slam.
