Saint Leo places ninth at Rollins Ross Resorts Invitational

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. – Saint Leo women's golf shaved 15 strokes off its best round from the Monday's first day of competition on its way to a ninth-place finish at the Rollins College Ross Resorts Invitational, Tuesday morning at the Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club.

The Lions combined to shoot a 311 in Tuesday's third round and finish with a 965 for the tournament. Saint Leo posted a 328 and 326 in Monday's first and second rounds at the Donald Ross-designed, par 72, 6171-yard Mid Pines course.

Rollins College won the tournament with a two-day tally of 919, after firing a tournament-low 303 on Tuesday. Barry University was second (935), while West Florida was third (937).

Junior Marie Coors was the top Saint Leo individual in the tournament, carding a 78 on Tuesday to finish tied for 16th overall with a 20-over 236.

Sophomore Vilde Eriksen had the biggest move up the leaderboard for the Lions on Tuesday, jumping 19 spots on her third round score of 75 (+3). She finished the tournament tied for 34th with a 242 (+26).

Sophomore Amanda Jakobsson climbed three spots on the individual leaderboard on Tuesday with a seven-over 79, and finished tied for 26th with a 239 (+23). Junior Minta Yin fired a third round score of 79, climbing 13 places on the leaderboard. She finished tied for 61st with a three-round tally of 253. Senior Kellianne May shot a 91 in Tuesday's final round, and was 73rd overall with a 260.

Rollins' Hally Leadbetter carded a 74 in the final round and posted a score of 225 to win the individual title. She fought off a challenge from second-place finisher Paloma Vaccaro from West Florida, who shot par on Tuesday and finished one stroke behind Leadbetter. Rollins' Annie Dulman was third overall with an 11-over 227.

Saint Leo returns to the links on Saturday, Sept. 26, when it travels to Hilton Head, S.C., to compete in the Lander University Invitational at Old South Golf Links.
