Women’s golf tabbed for NCAA Super Regional

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo University women's golf team was one of nine teams selected to play in the 2015 NCAA South Super Regional, when the list of NCAA tournament participants was released Monday afternoon.

The Lions will be the eighth seed when play starts Sunday, May 3, at the Savannah Quarters Country Club in Pooler, Ga., with Armstrong State University serving as host institution. The teams will play 54 holes over three days on the Savannah Quarters course, with play concluding on Tuesday, May 5.

The list of South Super Regional participants is: 1. Rollins, 2. Lynn, 3. Nova Southeastern, 4. Florida Tech, 5. Flagler, 6. Barry, 7. West Florida, 8. Saint Leo, and 9. Florida Southern.

In addition, four individuals – Arin Eddy (Montevallo), Elaine Wood (Montevallo), Brittany LaPadula (Limestone), and Stephanie Bennett (West Georgia) – were also selected to compete at the South Super Regional.

The South Super Regional is one of four 54-hole super regional tournaments that will determine the field of 72 golfers (12 teams and 12 individuals) who will advance to the NCAA Division II Women's Golf National Championship, which will be held May 13-16 at The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Mich.

The Saint Leo squad is paced by freshman Amanda Jakobsson, who is currently averaging 76.20 strokes over her 15 rounds of play this spring. Sophomore Marie Coors is not far off the pace with a 76.63 average through 24 rounds, while freshman Vilde Eriksen has charted a 76.96 average over 23 rounds in 2014-15. Senior Clare Connolly has a 77.21 average with 24 rounds played this year. Senior Lauren Petty (78.59 stroke avg.) and junior Kellianne May (79.79 stroke avg.) have each been the fifth player for the Lions in tournaments this spring.
