Women’s golf atop leaderboard after day one at Mimosa Hills

MORGANTON, N.C. – Saint Leo women's golf sits atop the team and individual leaderboards after Sunday's first day of competition at the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate.

Sophomore Marie Coors leads the field with a one-under 71 on the par 72, 6,009-yard Mimosa Hills Golf and Country Club course, one shot ahead of three other golfers tied for second at even par.

Senior Clare Connolly is tied for sixth after firing a 75, while freshman Amanda Jakobsson is tied for 10th after carding a 76 in the first round.

Freshman Vilde Eriksen shot a 77 and is tied for 14th, and senior Lauren Petty carded an 84 on Sunday.

As a team, Saint Leo turned in a round of 299, leading the mostly Division I field of 12 teams. Charleston Southern is second with a 301, while Wofford College and Appalachian State are tied for third with a 303.

The Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate concludes on Monday with a second 18-hole round.
