Women’s golf appears 13th in GolfStat rankings

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo University women's golf team was tabbed 13th in the GolfStat Division II relative rankings, which were released Wednesday.

Based on analytic data, the GolfStat rankings compare programs through adjusted scoring average, adjusted fifth score for each program, and comparative record and winning percentage versus all opponents. Similar analytics against teams among the top 25 are also used in the ranking.

Saint Leo was rewarded for its performance over the first three tournaments of the season, including a first place finish at the Lander University Lady Bearcat Invitational on Sept. 27-28.

Six other conference rivals joined the Lions in the Sunshine State Conference-laden poll.

Florida Tech is atop the GolfStat Division II rankings, while Nova Southeastern and Lynn University are third and fourth respectively. Rollins College trails the Lions in the 14th spot, with Barry University not far behind in 16th. Florida Southern checks in at No. 23 in the ranking.

Saint Leo women's golf gets to enjoy its home course next week, when it hosts the Saint Leo Invitational on Monday, Oct. 20, and Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club. Joining the Lions on the Lake Jovita South Course will be six other ranked teams: No. 1 Florida Tech, No. 4 Lynn, No. 8 Flagler, No. 12 Cal Baptist, No. 19 Armstrong State, and No. 23 Florida Southern.
