Saint Leo places fourth at Ross Resorts Invitational

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. -- Saint Leo University sophomore Marie Coors fired a 74 in the third round and carded a 227 for the tournament to lead the Lions to a fourth place finish on Tuesday at the Ross Resorts Invitational.

Saint Leo posted a three-round score of 929 on the par 72, 6171-yard Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club course, 11 strokes off the pace set by the first place squad from Nova Southeastern.

Senior Clare Connolly also placed among the top ten, firing a seven-over 79 in Tuesday's round for a 231 for the tournament. She was tied for ninth on the leaderboard. Freshman Vilde Eriksen posted a 78 in the third round for a two-day total of 234 to finish 16th

After shooting rounds of 81 and 83 on Monday, senior Lauren Petty rallied to card a 75 on Tuesday, jumping from 30th on the leaderboard up to 23rd. Junior Kellianne May also improved significantly in her final round, firing a 77 on Tuesday to finish 33rd with a 247.

Rollins' Madison Lellyo took medalist honors with rounds of 76-72-75 for a total seven-over 223. Martina Bertuccioli from Barry was second with an eight-over 224, after carding a 73 on Tuesday.

Saint Leo women's golf returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 27, and Sunday, Sept. 28, when they compete at the Lady Bearcat Invitational, hosted by Lander University in Hilton Head, S.C.
