Lions fourth after day one at Ross Resorts Invite

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. – Saint Leo University women's golf fired team rounds of 310 and 315 and returned to the club house fourth out of eight teams after Monday's first day of competition at the Ross Resorts Invitational.

The Lions' 625 on the par-72, 6171-yard Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club course is 17 strokes off the pace set by Barry University, who sit atop the team leaderboard with a two-round total of 608. Nova Southeastern is second with a team total of 613, followed by Rollins College with 620.

Senior Clare Connolly paces the Lions after carding rounds of 75 and 77 for a 152 through the first two rounds, and is seventh on the individual leaderboard. She is seven strokes off the pace set by Nova Southeastern's Liliana Cammisa, who leads the field with a two-round total of 145.

Saint Leo sophomore Marie Coors turned in rounds of 76 and 77 and is tied for eighth with a 153. Newcomer Vilde Eriksen also finished among the top 20 after the first day; she fired rounds of 78 and 78 for a total of 156, and is tied for 13th.

Senior Lauren Petty finished the first day tied for 30th with a two-round total of 184.

The third and final round of the tournament takes place Tuesday at Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club.
