Saint Leo is one of seven Sunshine State Conference Schools in the top-25
SAINT LEO, Fla. – The latest Golf World/WGCA Division II College Coaches' Poll of the spring 2014 season has been released, and the Saint Leo University women's golf team is standing firm at No. 12 in the nation, the same spot it held in the last ranking on April 17. The poll combines the resources of Golf World magazine and the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). The Sunshine State Conference, the top Division II women's golf conference in the country, shows exactly why it holds that title, dominating the top-17 spots with seven teams listed, including the top four teams in the country; Lynn, Rollins, Barry and Florida Tech coming in at Nos. 1-4, respectively.
Nova Southeastern, who falls just outside the top five, is ranked No. 6, and Florida Southern rounds out the SSC team's in the top-25 at No. 17.
Most recently, the Lions finish the season with a sixth place finish after shooting a three round total of 926 (319-301-306) at the NCAA Division II Women's Golf South/Southeast Super Regional at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club in Dade City, May 4-6.
Individually, Marie Coors advanced to the NCAA Division II National Championships at the Rock Barn Golf & Spa in Conover, N.C., May 14-17, after earning co-medalist honors at the Super Regional. Coors recovered from a 76 in round one and shot back-to-back 71s in the second and third rounds, respectively for a three-round total of 218.
