Coors shoots a six under par 66 during the first round and leads by four strokes
SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo University women's golf standout Marie Coors got out of the gate fast on Sunday shooting a six under par 66 to take the lead after the first round of the Sunshine State Conference Golf Championships at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club in Dade City, Fla.
Coors is one of just three players to shoot under par on Sunday joining Jessica Bradley of Lynn (70) who is in second, and Liliana Cammisa of Nova Southeastern (71) who is in third.
Coors led the charge for the Lions who, as a team, shot a first round total of 297 and find themselves in third place heading into the second round on Monday.
Rollins College (292) and Lynn University (296) are first and second, respectively.
Joining Coors in the top 10 is Lauren Petty who shot a 73 and is tied for seventh. Clare Connelly rounds out Saint Leo's golfers in the top 20 shooting a 77, good enough for a share of 19th.
Saint Leo will hit the course again on Monday, April 14, for second round play at Lake Jovita. Petronis will start things off for the Lions teeing off, on the first tee, at 9:55 a.m. while Shuford will tee off at 10:05 a.m. Connolly will follow at 10:15 a.m., Petty at 10:25 a.m. and Coors will tee off at 10:35 a.m.
