Lions Tabbed 14th in Latest Golf World Coaches Poll

NEW YORK, N.Y. — The latest Golf World/WGCA Division II College Coaches' Poll of the Spring 2014 season has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine and the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). After a sixth place finish at the Pirate Invitational, the Saint Leo women's golf team has received a national ranking of 14.

Lynn University remained the unanimous choice to sit atop the latest Golf World/WGCA Division II women's college coaches' poll. The Fighting Knights claimed all 20 available first-place votes to keep their firm grasp on the top spot. After a runner-up finish in the Lady Falcon Invitational to open the fall, the school has won its last six tournament starts including a 10-stroke victory at the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational.

In addition to Lynn, six of the nine schools in the Sunshine State Conference were selected to the top-25 poll, including Barry (No. 2) spot while Florida Tech (No. 3) and Rollins (No. 5). Nova Southeastern (10) and Florida Southern (11) were also honored with high rankings.

Saint Leo, who stands in the number-14 spot, has finished every spring match so far this year as a top finisher. Their best finish of the spring season came at the World Golf Invitational hosted by Flagler College in early February, when the Lions finished in second place.

Saint Leo will get back in action on Monday, March 17 when they travel to Miami, Fla. to compete in the Lady Bucs Invitational hosted by No. 2 Barry University. Play will take place at Shula's Golf Club in Miami.
