ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – After finishing the first round of the Flagler Fall Slam in fifth place, the Saint Leo women's golf team ended the second and final round of the tournament in a tie for fourth place. The Lions finished the par-72, 6062-yd. course with a final team score of 627.
Much like the first day of play, junior Clare Connolly led the effort for the Lions, shooting a 77 to tie for 6th among all individuals. Freshman Marie Coors mimicked Connolly's second round score of 77, finished 9th in the 80-woman field.
Senior Lauren Shuford finished round two just as she ended round one, with a score 80. Her final score of 160 puts her in 26th place.
Junior Lauren Petty, who shot a seven-over-79 on the day, finished fourth for the Lions' squad, giving her a 39th place finish.
Senior Heather Petronis rounded out the group for the Lions, shooting an 83 in the second round.
Barry University finished the tournament in first place, while Flagler's Maria Santacroce was awarded the individual title for her finish of a one-over-145.
The Flagler Fall Slam ends the Lions' fall tournament run, giving them four top-ten finishes, including two first-place finishes. The women's golf team will return to action in the spring when they head back to St. Augustine, Fla. to participate in Flagler's spring tournament on February 9-10.
