No. 6 Lions Finish Saint Leo Invitational in 8th Place

SAINT LEO, Fla. – After taking home the first two fall tournaments of the 2013-14 year, the Saint Leo women's golf team placed 8th in their own Saint Leo Women's Golf Invitational. The Lions squad finished the second round of the tournament with a final score of 628.

Once again, freshman Marie Coors led the effort for Saint Leo, shooting a three-over score of 75 in the second round. Her final score of 151 for the tournament placed her just seven strokes over par as she finished tied for 11th place among the 96-woman field.

Junior Clare Connolly and senior Lauren Shuford finished second for the Lions' squad, each shooting a second round score of 79 on Tuesday afternoon. Shuford finished in a tie for 26th for the tournament with a final score of 156, while Connolly tied for 39th, shooting a 160.

Finishing the second day of play with a score of 79, junior Lauren Petty tied for 44th place in the field.

Senior Heather Petronis rounded out the group for the weekend, finishing tied for 77th place with a second round score of 82.

After a playoff between Flagler College and Lynn University, the first place program, Lynn, finished the weekend with a team score of 603.

Lynn's Jessica Bradley, the individual winner for the tournament, finished with a final score of 144.

The Saint Leo women's golf program will return to action on Monday, October 28th, when they travel to St. Augustine, Fla. to compete in the Flagler Fall Slam.
