LAKELAND, Fla.—In the opening 18 holes of the NCAA South Regional at Lone Palm Golf Club, Clare Connolly fired a 76 (+4), shooting a 36 on the front nine and a 40 on the back.
Holing pars on the first nine holes, Connolly played solid on the back nine as well to position herself as the first place golfer among individuals not competing with a team. Connolly is second among all tournament participants with 14 pars in the opening round.
Connolly's 76 puts her tied for 10th among all participating players, but only needs to be among the top three not qualifying with a team to advance to the national tournament.
The other individuals not participating with a team are Meghan Moore of UNC Pembroke who shot a 77 today, Teresa Hernani of Lander University who shot a 77, and Emee Herbert of Tusculum who shot an 84.
The final 36 holes of the NCAA South Region Tournament will get underway tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m.
