After Brief Frost Delay, Lions Finish Day 1 of Peggy Kirk Invitational in Ninth Place

WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. –In the second tournament of the spring season, the women's golf team teed off Monday in frosty conditions at the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational. The ladies finished the first two rounds with a 336-320—656 and in ninth place.

Leading the Lions was Lauren Petty who followed up an 80 in the opening round with an impressive 72 in round number two. The 80-72—152 total for Petty was good enough to put her tied for ninth place overall on the individual leaderboard.

Clare Connolly was next in line as she fired an 80 and 79 respectively in the opening two rounds for a first day total of 159. Trailing Connolly by three strokes was Lauren Shuford who carded an 82-80—162. Rounding out the Lions' four scores was Heather Petronis who fired a 94-89—183 in the first day. Alyssa Barrett shot a 97 and 94 in the first two rounds.

The Lions would have quite a bit of ground to make up to jump up to the eighth spot which is held by Florida Tech—who totaled a 310-318—628.

Currently in the lead is Nova Southeastern who fired a 295-295—590 in the opening two rounds.

The Lions will look to make up some ground tomorrow with a tee time for 9:00 a.m.
