LAKELAND, Fla. –The Saint Leo women's golf team wrapped up the final round of the Lady Moc Classic despite times of heavy wind and rain today. The ladies finished the third round with a team score of 318 which puts them in 10th place overall—the same spot that they came into the round at. For the tournament the team shot a 307-315—318.
Clare Connolly continued her consistent play—firing a solid 76 for the third consecutive round. Her three rounds of 76 put her tied for 19th place overall with a total score of 76-76—228. Lauren Petty and Lauren Shuford both carded 77 in the third round which puts Petty at 230 for the tournament and Shuford at 232. Rounding out the Lions' four scores was Heather Petronis who shot an 88 in the final round. Shaving three strokes off her second round score and five strokes off her first second round total was Alyssa Barrett with a 92.
The Lions finished two strokes behind ninth-place Seminole State who finished with 311-306—321 for the tournament. Winning the tournament was the No. 1 team in the country Nova Southeastern who continued their dominant play on Tuesday by firing a 290.
The Lions holed 16 birdies and 139 pars over the course of the 36-hole tournament.
The Lions will get back out on the course next Monday in the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational at the Tuscawilla Golf Club.
