Lions Ranked Eighth on First Golf World DII Coaches Poll of 2012 Season
NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Saint Leo women's golf team has earned an eighth-place nod on the first Golf World Division II Coaches Poll of the 2012 season, officials announced Wednesday. The poll combines the resources of Golf World magazine, as well as the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA).
Including the Green and Gold, the Sunshine State Conference takes up five of the top-10 spots on the latest poll. Nova Southeastern earned 12 of the 16 available first place votes to remain in first place with 363 points. Florida Southern claims the No. 3 slot with 305 points and one first place vote, followed by Lynn University in fifth with 299 points and one top vote, as well. Barry nips at the Fighting Knights' heels in sixth, finishing just one point behind with 298 points.
The Lions return to action on Monday, March 5, at the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational hosted by Rollins College at the Tuscawilla Golf Club in Orlando, Fla.
