SALISBURY, N.C. – The Saint Leo women’s golf team maintained its eighth place position after Round Two of the 2010 NCAA South Regional Tournament hosted by Catawba College at the 6,094-yard, Par-71 Country Club of Salisbury. The 54-hole tournament will conclude on Tuesday. The top three teams and the top three individuals not a member of the three qualifying teams will advance to the NCAA II Nationals.

Sophomore Goeun Lee (73-83—156), who finished the first round in fourth place, slipped to 18th after a posting an 83 in the second-18.  Improving her score by two strokes, senior Anna Riss (81-79—160) jumped to 25th after completing her 36 holes.

In 29th place, Suzanne Ervin (82-79—161) also made an improvement on her first-day score, as did junior Kristina Carvalho (87-78—165), who made the best jump on the Lions’ squad, improving her score nine strokes to sit in 40th place.

For the entire tournament, Nova Southeastern holds a slim one stroke lead over Florida Southern while Barry and Rollins enter the final round tied for the third and final qualifying spot for the national tournament.

Individually, Joanna Coe, of Rollins, holds a two shot lead over Marianne Andersson, of Florida Southern, and Sandra Changkija, of Nova Southeastern.  Those three will be in Tuesday’s final pairing as they were on Monday.  Each turned in even-par scores of 71 in rainy conditions in round two.
