SAINT LEO, Fla. – It comes as another first for the Saint Leo women’s golf team and Head Coach Erika Brennan as the Lions bumped themselves up another notch and again set the bar as the highest-ranked group in program history as Golfstat released its latest rankings on Tuesday and the Lions are now 11th in the nation.

The program-best ranking comes as the Lions’ top senior; Anna Riss is ranked as the 12th-best player in all of Division II.  The German finds her name in the top-10 in nearly every statistical category that Golfstat tracks, including fairways hits, greens in regulation and total short game.

As a team, the Lions have finished in the top-seven of all the tournaments they have competed in during the spring season, including back-to-back fifth place finishes to start the championship portion.  They finished the pre-tournament portion of their schedule with a seventh place result in the MSU Spring Invitational which features some of the country’s top talent, across all division of collegiate golf.

The Lions will take their program-best ranking into the upcoming Sunshine State Conference Golf Championships, which will be competed at the Grande Oaks Golf Club in Davie, Fla.  Nova Southeastern will serve as host of the tournament which gets underway on Sunday, April 18th.
