Tamarac, Fla. (March 25, 2008) – The Saint Leo University women’s golf team finished in ninth-place with a team score of 697 (347-350) at the NSU Spring Classic on Tuesday.  The event was held at the par-72, 6,090-yard Woodmont Country Club in Tamarac, Fla.

Tournament host and No. 2 ranked Nova Southeastern erased a three-stroke deficit to win the event with a team total of 608 (307-301).  First round leader and fourth-ranked Florida Southern College was runner-up with a 610 (304-306).  No. 5 Barry University was third (310-302=612) with Daytona Beach Community College fourth (308-314=622).  No. 6 Lynn University rounded out the top-five with a score of 637 (309-328).

Barry’s Isadora Stapff took home individual medalist honors, as she won a playoff with Lynn’s Marianne Andersson.  Each had finished regulation with identical 36-hole scores of 149.

Saint Leo was led individually by sophomore Anna Riss (Frankfurt, Germany) who tied for 24th-place.  Riss totaled 159 (78-81) for the tournament.

The Saint Leo University women’s golf team will return to the course April 14-15 at the 2008 Sunshine State Conference Championships.  The event will be hosted by Florida Tech at The Duran Golf course in Viera, Fla.
