Lakeland, Fla. (February 26, 2008) – The Saint Leo University women’s golf team finished in 12th-place at the Lady Moc Classic hosted by Florida Southern College on Tuesday.  The event was played on the par-72, 5,997-yard layout at Cleveland Heights Golf Club in Lakeland, Fla.

Saint Leo shot a final round 330 to finish the 54-hole event with a team total of 995 (338-327-330), just one stroke behind Tusculum College (336-331-327=994).

Tournament host and No. 4 Florida Southern won the team title with a team score of 893, which was good for a seven-stroke win over second-place and top-ranked Rollins College (890).  No. 2 Nova Southeastern moved up on spot to finish third (903), while No. 5 Barry University (905) was fourth with No. 10 Lynn (928) rounding out an all-SSC top-five.

Florida Southern’s Marianne Andersson claimed individual medalist honors with a final round 72 and a three-day total 222 (77-73-72).  Saint Leo sophomore Anna Riss (Frankfurt, Germany) led the Lions in a tie for 32nd with a 54-hole score of 236 (80-78-78).

Saint Leo will continue its spring season next week at the Saint Andrew’s Spring Invitational at Woodlake Resort and Golf Club in Vass, N.C.  The event will be played March 3-4.
