Saint Leo, Fla. (October 23, 2007) – The Saint Leo University women’s golf team finished third at the 2007 SLU Fall Invitational at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club on Tuesday.  The event was being played on the 5,889-yard par-72 South Course.


The Lions shot a final round 325 to overcome Florida Southern’s “B” Team and finish in the top three for the first time this season with a 54-hole total of 974 (331-318-325).  Florida Southern won the event with a team total of 893 (296-301-296).

Florida Tech’s Daniela Iacobelli won individual medalist honors, as she defeated Florida Southern’s Kim Ulander on the first playoff hole.  Both players had finished regulation with scores of 218.

Saint Leo was led by freshman Alexandra King (Warwick, R.I.), as she finished 11th overall with a score of 232 (76-76-80).  Saint Leo’s Anna Riss (So., Frankfurt, Germany) finished 14th with a three round total of 237 (81-77-79). 

SLU’s Kristina Carvalho (Fr., Manchester, Conn.) was tied for 25th with a 251 (93-77-81), Mallory Rausch (Sr., Riverview, Fla.) was tied for 33rd with a 261 (85-89-87) and Meghan Costello (Jr., Emerson, N.J.) was 36th with a 2622 (89-88-85).

The tournament concluded the fall portion of Saint Leo’s schedule.  The Lions will open their spring schedule at the Florida Southern Lady Moc Classic February 24-26.
