Pace, Fla. (September 18, 2007) - The Saint Leo University women's golf team finished fourth at the 2007 Bubba Watson Invitational hosted by the University of West Florida following a two-day score of 678 (339-339). The Lions were participating in their first tournament of the season at Stonebrook Golf Club in Pace, Fla.
Saint Leo junior Meghan Costello (Emerson, N.J.) was individual runner-up, as she finished just two strokes behind medalist Bhavna Shetty (77-76=153) from West Florida. Costello, who held the first round lead, finished with a 36-hole score of 155 (73-82). Saint Leo sophomore Anna Riss (Frankfurt, Germany) also posted a top-10 finish, as she was tied for seventh with a 162 (80-82).
Tournament host, and fourth-ranked West Florida won the tournament with a team total of 640 (327-313). The University of Montevallo and Henderson State University tied for second-place after both shot 668.
The Saint Leo women’s golf team will return to play at the Sixth Annual Flagler College Fall Slam on October 1-2 in St. Augustine, Fla.
