Viera, Fla. (April 17, 2007) – The Saint Leo University women’s golf team finished seventh at the 2007 Sunshine State Conference Championships on Tuesday with a score of 1,085 (362-356-367) in Viera, Fla. The event was hosted by Florida Tech on the 5,885-yard par 72 layout at Duran Golf Club.
Florida Southern College won the event with a team total of 929 (319-308-302). Florida Tech’s Daniela Iacobelli won the individual medalist honors with a playoff victory over Nova Southeastern’s Maria Garcia Austt after the two finished regulation tied with scores of 226.
Saint Leo was led by Samantha Chu (So., New Port Richey, Fla.) who shot 249 (81-86-82). Meghan Costello (So., Emerson, N.J.), Tiffany Wengyn (Fr., Valrico, Fla.) and Mallory Rausch (Jr., Riverview, Fla.) finished 31st, 33rd and 34th respectively.
Rollins College finished second, while Nova Southeastern and Lynn University were tied for third-place. Barry University rounded out the top five.
