Lakeland, Fla. (February 27, 2007) – The Saint Leo University women’s golf team opened its 2007 spring season with a 13th place finish at the Lady Moc Classic hosted by Florida Southern College.  The Lions shot a team total of 1025 (351-334-340) in the 54-hole event played at Cleveland Heights Golf Club in Lakeland, Fla.

Saint Leo sophomore Angela Sparagowski (Sylvania, Ohio) led the Lions individually, as she was tied for 49th in the event.  Sparagowski carded rounds of 80, 83 and 83 for a 54-hole total of 246.

Tournament host Florida Southern won with a score of 906 (309-301-296).  Meanwhile, Nova Southeastern University’s Maria Garcia Austt took home individual medalist honors following a final round tournament low score of 69 (-3) and a three-day total of 221 (75-77-69).

The Saint Leo women return to action when they participate in the 32nd Annual Peggy Kirk Bell Classic hosted by Rollins College.  The event will be played March 12-13 at Tuscawilla Country Club in Winter Springs, Fla.
