Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. (October 17, 2006) – The Saint Leo University women’s golf team finished 16th at the 2006 NSU Fall Invitational on Tuesday.  The event was held on the Par-72, 6000-yard layout at PGA National Golf Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Saint Leo shot a team total of 727 (366-361) to finish ahead of SSC foe Eckerd College (841).  The Lions were led by Angela Sparagowski (So., Sylvania, Ohio) and Meghan Costello (So., Emerson, N.J.) who finished tied for 56th individually after each shot 169 in the 36-hole event.

No. 2 ranked Lynn University won the event in following a one-hole playoff against top-ranked Florida Southern College after the pair had finished tied with scores of 607.  Four-time defending NCAA Division II National Champions Rollins College finished third (618).

Lynn’s Katy McNicoll held her overnight lead to finish with individual medalist honors after a 36-hole score of 149 (74-75).

The Saint Leo women’s golf team will return to action when it hosts the 2006 SLU Fall Invitational at Lake Jovita on October 30-31.
