SAINT LEO, Fla. – In the second day of action at the Saint Leo Classic tournament, the Saint Leo women's basketball team defeated the visiting Webber Warriors by a 85-69 score. The win improved the Lions' record to a perfect 4-0 on the season.
The Lions squad played hard throughout both halves, outshooting their opponent 49-29 in the first half and pushing hard on defense in the second half.
It was senior guard Teresa Manigrasso who led the effort for the Lions, banking 16 shots for a total of 24 points on the afternoon. The total marks a season-high in points scored. The next highest-shooting Lion was senior Keishara Green, who tallied 14 points; just one short of her career high.
Defensively, Saint Leo recorded 53 total rebounds, with 12 of them coming from Green, marking a season high for her.
As a team, the Lions shot 19-for-25 from behind the charity stripe, earning a 76.0 free-throw percentage. In addition, the squad collected three steals and 21 assists. Sophomore Ashlin Gross tallied the Lions' only two blocks in the contest.
The Saint Leo women's basketball team will return to action on Thursday, November 21 when they host the visiting Northwood Seahawks. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. from the Marion Bowman Center on the campus of Saint Leo University.
