SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's basketball team fell to the Lynn University Fighting Knights on Saturday evening at the Marion Bowman Activities Center on the campus of Saint Leo University by a score of 68-51.

Saint Leo (6-6, 1-1 SSC) was led offensively by Chelsea Connelly and Teresa Manigrasso, who each scored 13 points. Connelly, the leading rebounder in the Sunshine State Conference at 10.3 per game, grabbed 10 rebounds in today's effort. Elise Clyburn added nine points and three assists.

Despite holding Sunshine State Conference leading scorer Kira Harvey to seven second half points, Lynn (8-4, 1-1 SSC) held off the Lions to earn their first conference win of the season. Harvey totaled 20 points, including going 4-for-10 from beyond the arc.

The Lions trailed by as many as 15 in the first half, behind the scoring of Harvey and Tifani Kerrison. Lynn shot 40 percent from the field and 40 percent from behind the arc in the first half, compared to the Lions' 38 percent from the field and 22 percent from three-point range.

Lynn began to pull away in the second half when the Lions shooting went cold and shot just 24 percent from the field. The Lions were able to contain Lynn's Harvey in the second half, holding her to just seven points, but couldn't seem to get into any offensive flow to take advantage.

The Knights outscored the Lions in the paint 20-to-14, and had 14 more points contributed off the bench. The Lions held a 15-to-10 advantage on second-chance points.

The women's basketball team gets back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 9 when they host Florida Southern at 5:30 p.m.
