SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's basketball participated in their first community service project of the season, as they volunteered at the Dade City Women's Shelter last Saturday.
Early to rise, the ladies took to repairing the outside appearance of the local women's shelter. The team assisted in various activities throughout the morning, including pruning trees, the removing of vines, and gardening. In addition, the team also cleaned out animal homes and assembled a park bench for the shelter.
When asked about the experience, Lions' newcomer Kinnara Lewis responded, "I thought it was a great team experience. Just by being able to give back, and do the little things, gave us satisfaction."
Senior guard Gekeela Clemmons also said, "I thought it was inspiring. It felt like we did a good deed and we would not mind helping out again."
Look for Saint Leo to continue to be a force in the community throughout the rest of the school year.
