SAINT LEO, Fla. – In less than a day, Saint Leo University will open its doors for the Pasco County community to enjoy great food and have great fun all for a great cause as the women’s basketball team welcomes all to its inaugural Food Fest of Pasco presented by Pasco Regional Medical Center on Saturday, February 13th from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m..

The Food Fest of Pasco will bring an array of foods, tastes, flavors, and cultures of Pasco County together on one amazing day in the heart of the county. This inaugural gathering will be held on the Lions’ beautiful campus off of State Road 52 as Head Women’s Basketball Coach Chanita Olds announced the list of vendors and sponsors for this ground-breaking event.

This year’s Food Fest of Pasco participating vendors, who will have a taste of their restaurant’s food available at the event, include Smoothie King, Domino’s Pizza of Dade City, Francesco’s New York Style Pizzeria, City’s Edge of Dade City, Tijuana Flats of Wesley Chapel, Texas Roadhouse of Wesley Chapel, Beef O’Brady’s in Dade City, Chick- Fil-A of New Tampa, ABC Pizza of Dade City, On Q Smokehouse and Grill in Saint Leo, Cosi Café of Wiregrass, Kafe Kokopelli,  Sodexo Food Service, Pancho’s Villa Mexican Restaurant and Palomino’s Family Restaurant.

Food Fest of Pasco Sponsors include presenting sponsor Pasco Regional Medical Center and the American Cancer Society as well as Feldman’s Orthodontics, The Country Kitchen, On Q Smokehouse and Grill in Saint Leo, The Abbey Golf Course at Saint Leo University, Sure Value Motors, Sodexo Food Services, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated, Olga’s Bakery, Bounce U and Patton Chiropractic.

Also providing entertainment will be Nashville Express, and performing will be our own local celebrity Ashley Shannon.  Shannon is the 2009 Entertainer of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Female Country Artist of the Year for the State of Florida!  For the kids we will have clowns, balloon artists, the Pasco County Fire Trucks, U.S. ARMY Humvee’s, a designated basketball area, and Bounce U out of Wesley Chapel will be providing some fun and exciting items to keep them entertained during the event. 

Remember that your ticket also gains you entry to the Saint Leo women’s basketball game against Valdosta State University at 2:00 p.m. in the Bowman Center, and there is also a lacrosse exhibition game later than evening against Hartwick College at 7:00 p.m.  As an added bonus, if you cannot make the Valdosta State game, your Food Fest ticket stub is good for the Lions' home games against Rollins and Barry at the end of February.

Twenty-five percent of the funds raised from this fantastic event will benefit the WBCA Pink Zone Initiative. The WBCA Pink Zone is a global, unified effort for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. A portion of the monies collected will go to benefit the Saint Leo University women’s basketball team’s charity of choice - the Kay Yow WBCA Cancer Fund. The members of Saint Leo University women’s basketball team, have pledged to "assist in the fight against breast cancer" and with your support you can assist in this great cause and also be a part of this community-wide celebration.

General admission to the 2010 Food Fest of Pasco is $10 for adults, children who are 12 and under are free, university/college faculty/staff and students are $5, with the admission fee going to help the Kay Yow WBCA Cancer Fund and Saint Leo Women’s Basketball.  Individual food vendors may be charging a small fee of between $1 and $4 for a taste of their food.

There are also advance ticket sales locations set up throughout Dade City (listed below) as well as at the gate on the day of the event, and tickets can also be purchased by calling 352-588-8447.
