SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo Women’s Basketball head coach Chanita Olds announced a National Letter of Intent signing during the early signing period in mid-November.  In an impressive pick up, the Lions signed North Carolina native Chelsea Connelly to the squad and she will enter Saint Leo and begin taking classes in the fall of 2010.

Connelly, a native of Morganton, N.C. who attended Freedom High School, is averaging 15 points as she has bucketed 90 points so far this season to lead her team.  Averaging 36 percent from the field, the 5’10” guard is also a big threat from behind the arc, hitting 6-of-18 treys (33 percent) so far this year.  She will look to add a speedy, high-percentage shooter to the Lions’ lineup.

"Chelsea comes from one of the top high school programs in North Carolina where she had the opportunity to learn from a great mentor in Coach Amber Fox,” said Coach Olds. “She is a big time player with a tremendous upside, I believe that Chelsea will make a big impact her first year."
