SAINT LEO, Fla. – The second-annual Saint Leo Women’s Basketball Skills Clinic was deemed a success; it was reported by Coach Chanita Olds at the conclusion of the camp.

On Saturday, October 3rd, the Saint Leo Women’s Basketball team hosted the one day event. "The clinic exceeded all expectations.” said Coach Olds.

A total of 22 participants took part in the learning experience. Besides the Lions' coaching staff, current and former players took part in the teaching by participating in activities and lending their expertise to the developing bunch of young ladies.

The group included both middle school, and high school athletes. It attracted attendees from as far north as Pensacola, Fla. and as far south as West Palm Beach, Fla. The young ladies in attendance were not the only ones gaining knowledge from the Lions’ leaders, but parents also left the four-hour session with an expanded knowledge of the game and only positives feedback in return. One parent went on to say about the SLU basketball team and their presence on the court, “they are a wonderful example of a true team. They had fun on the court, yet were able to get down to business.”

Both players and the coaching staff are looking forward for the opportunity to participate in the skills clinic again in 2010. Coach Olds believes the reason why the event was a true success was because, “the girls came out excited and willing to learn. They displayed the passion and love for the game that is needed to succeed at any level in both sports and life.”

The team begins their exhibition season on Monday, November 2nd at Central Florida Community College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
