Winter Park, Fla. (February 6, 2008) – The Saint Leo women’s basketball team (9-11, 2-7 SSC) fell 57-42 at Rollins College (12-8, 3-7 SSC) in Winter Park, Fla. on Wednesday night.

Saint Leo was led by senior guard Amanda Holloway (West Palm Beach, Fla.) who scored a game-high tying 14 points, but the Lions had trouble containing Rollins senior Jennifer Musgrove.  Musgrove finished just one assist shy of a triple-double with 14 points, a game-high12 rebounds and nine assists.

Rollins used hot shooting to offset a total of 28 turnovers, as the Tars shot 45.8% (22-of-48) from the floor for the game, including 7-of-16 (43.8%) from beyond the three-point line.  The Tars led from the start, leading by as many as 18 points in the contest.

After Rollins opened with a 7-0 run, the Lions settled in by scoring the next four points.  However Rollins, put together a 15-1 run to open up a 17-point lead at 22-5 with 13:08 left in the first half.  The Lions battled back late in the half, closing on a 12-2 run and making it a five-point game at half-time.

The five points was as close as the Lions would come, as Rollins scored the first nine points of the second half.  The Tars kept the lead in double digits for the remainder of the game, eventually leading by a game-high 18 points late before settling for the final margin of 15 and sweeping the season series with the Lions.

The Lions return home on Saturday afternoon when they face Lynn University in another SSC game at the Bowman Center.  Saint Leo will be joining the WBCA’s “Think Pink” initiative for the day, wearing pink shoelaces and pink bows in their hair.  Fans are also encouraged to participate in “Think Pink” by wearing pink to the game versus the Fighting Knights with proceeds from ticket sales going toward breast cancer research.
