Ft. Myers, Fla. (December 14, 2006) – Five Florida Gulf Coast players scored in double figures leading the 10th ranked Eagles (13-0) to a 96-59 win over Saint Leo University (2-8) in non-conference action on Thursday at Alico Arena in Ft. Myers, Fla.

Saint Leo junior forward Marquita Fenn (Ft. Pierce, Fla.) notched her second consecutive double-double with 11 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.  However, FGCU freshman guard Steffi Sorensen led all scorers with 21 points, while senior forward Katie Schrader had 20 points to keep the Eagles perfect on the year.

Gulf Coast shot 49.3% (36-of-73) from the field, including 55.2% (16-of-29) from beyond the three-point arch.  Sorensen drained five three-pointers and senior guard Alex Nelson hit four treys in the contest.

Saint Leo had an early lead at 7-3 but a 17-0 run catapulted the Eagles into the lead for good.  FGCU led by as much as 43 points in the contest, and posted its third highest scoring output of the season.

The Lions will return to the floor on Saturday, December 30 when they host Georgia Southwestern State University at the Bowman Center.  Opening tip is slated for 2:00 p.m. and will be followed by the SLU men’s game versus Flagler College.
