SAINT LEO, Fla. – The volleyball duo of Emily Calderon-Reyes and Danielle Bletso earned Sunshine State Conference Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors; it was announced Monday by SSC Commissioner Jay Jones.

Calderon-Reyes had an outstanding all-around week for the Green & Gold. In a pair of regional wins, the junior outside hitter concluded the week with 4.8 kills and 2.7 digs per set. She notched a .453 attack percentage and also posted 0.5 aces, 0.5 blocks, and 0.3 assists per set.

In the 3-0 sweep of the No.24-ranked West Florida Argonauts, the Caguas, P.R. native registered a double-double as she led the team in kills with 17 while posting 10 digs. She hit .483 for the match while blocking two balls and converting on one service ace.

She continued her great play in their non-conference game with Harding. In their 3-0 sweep, she recorded 12 kills, six digs, one block, two assists, and two service aces while hitting at a .417 clip.

On the defensive end, Bletso was a menace to opponents. The Boardman, Ohio native averaged two blocks per frame in the pair of non-conference regional wins. She posted four blocks in the three-set victory over the Argo’s while saving her best performance for Harding. In the contest, Bletso led the team with eight blocks and two digs. Overall, Bletso led the defensive charge for SLU, holding opponents to just a .166 attack percentage.

For the year, 10 Saint Leo athletes have earned SSC Player of the Week honors, seven of which are from the volleyball program.

The Lions hit the court for three matches in four days this week. First, the Lions will host an SSC tilt with Florida Tech on Wednesday, October 21 at 7:00 p.m. On the 22nd, SLU will take on non-conference opponent Saint Francis at 7:00 p.m. before finishing up the week on the road in Winter Park, Fla. where they will take on conference foe Rollins.
