SAINT LEO, Fla. – The stellar week that the Saint Leo volleyball team concluded last weekend finished with two more awards on Monday afternoon as both Kaitlin McKenna and Bruna Rocha took home the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week awards for the period ending September 27th.

This marks the third consecutive week that McKenna’s name has been at the top of the conference’s weekly award, and this week was undoubtedly her finest.   In two matches against tough SSC competition in Lynn and Barry, the Farmington Hills, Mich. native posted a surreal .615 attack average, including a 12-of-16 performance against Barry where she hit .750.  For the week, the junior averaged 3.71 kills and .70 blocks per set.  She totaled 26 kills and only two errors in 39 attempts.  She spearheaded a Lions attack that hit .314 for the week and stayed undefeated in conference play.

On the defensive side, Rocha helped anchor a Lions defense that posted a stifling 17.1 digs per set.  The Brazilian averaged four digs per set to help lift the Lions.  She collected 20 digs in a four-set victory versus Lynn, helping limit the Fighting Knights to a .113 hitting percentage.  The following day, the junior recorded eight digs to hold Barry to a .194 percentage in a three-set sweep. For the week, Rocha also averaged three kills, 0.7 assists, 0.3 service aces, and 0.1 blocks per frame.

The duo marks the fourth and fifth Saint Leo student-athletes to recieve the SSC's Player of the Week honor.

After their back-to-back home games, the Saint Leo volleyball team has a busy week ahead with road matches against #24 Eckerd and #5 Tampa.  The Lions will take their 13-2 overall record and 4-0 conference mark to St. Petersburg on Wednesday night for a 7:00 p.m. match with the Tritons and close out the week by heading to Tampa to face the Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
