SAINT LEO, Fla. – Michelle Nogueras, a junior setter for the 24th-ranked Saint Leo University Lions, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II Player of the Week after her solid play last week. She earns the award after helping the Lions to five wins, while scoring two triple-doubles and two double-doubles in four of the matches.

In Saint Leo’s match against Florida Tech, she had 38 assists, four kills, eight digs, three aces and two blocks in the 3-1 win. Against Montevallo, Cayey, P.R. native had her first double-double of the week, tallying 25 assists and 14 digs in the 3-1 win. She also had four kills, three aces and two blocks in the match. She followed that up with her second double-double in a 3-0 win over West Georgia, dishing out 24 assists and picking up 10 digs, while adding seven kills, and ace and one block.

Against Alabama-Huntsville, Nogueras scored her first triple-double of the week, with 35 assists, 10 kills and 10 digs, while also adding two aces and three blocks. She closed out the week with her second triple-double, distributing 29 assists, while also collecting 12 kills, 11 digs and a block in a win over Valdosta State. For the week, Nogueras averaged 8.88 assists, 2.18 kills, and 3.12 digs per set.

Nogueras is the first athlete from Saint Leo to earn Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week honors and she is also the first student-athlete coached by Sam Cibrone to win the award.
