ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The 22nd-ranked Saint Leo University volleyball team was caught looking ahead on Wednesday evening as they fell to Eckerd College 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-23) in the opening match of the 2008 Sunshine State Conference schedule.

The Lions (12-1, 0-1 SSC) came out of the gates flat, and it was evident early that something was a tick off for the Green & Gold as the very first play as Saint Leo was called for a ball handling error.  That called seemed to set the tone for the rest of the evening.

Although none of the three sets were won by more than three points, it seemed like Saint Leo was always battling from behind, despite strong efforts from a few, select Lions.

Junior Jenna Jordan and freshman Danielle Bletso were the lone bright spots for Saint Leo as Jordan hit .520 converting 15 kills and only committing two errors.  Bletso, who was a force early in the contest, hit .533 as she went 10-for-15 in the loss.

The Lions will try to regroup from this initial loss as they will face 4th-ranked Tampa at home on Friday night.
