Saint Leo, Fla. (January 15, 2008) – The Saint Leo University volleyball program and head coach Sam Cibrone has announced a pair of signings during the NCAA Early Signing Period.  The Lions have added outside hitter Jessica Bryant from nearby Land O’Lakes High School and middle blocker Danielle Bletso from Boardman, Ohio.

“I feel that both of these recruits have a chance to play for us immediately if they work hard and develop quickly,” Coach Cibrone said.  “Jess Bryant will add depth at the outside hitter position for us, and we are anxious to see her develop.  Danielle is a player that has the potential to be a dominant player on our team and gives us a fourth middle blocker.”

Bryant was a four-year varsity captain at Land O’Lakes High.  The 5’10” outside hitter was named All-Sunshine State Athletic Conference in 2006 and 2007, and also a member of the 2007 Team Florida High Performance Team.  In addition, Bryant plays club volleyball with the Tampa United 18 National Team.

Bletso played her high school volleyball at Boardman High School where she was the varsity MVP in 2007 and the Division I District Player of the Year.   The 6’2” middle blocker was also a First Team All-District and All-League selection.  She plays club volleyball for Tri-County 18 National.

The Saint Leo University volleyball team (24-14, 6-10 SSC) reached the NCAA Division II National tournament for the second consecutive season in 2007, and established a new program record for single-season wins (24).
