Saint Leo, Fla. (November 26, 2007) – Saint Leo University volleyball player Michelle Nogueras (So., Cayey, Puerto Rico) was named Honorable Mention All-America by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, it was announced Monday.

Nogueras, an AVCA All-South Region selection and a member of the All-Sunshine State Conference First Team in 2007, was once again one of the Lions top all-around performers during her sophomore season.  She set new program records with 1,576 assists and 11.34 assists per game.  In addition, Nogueras registered six triple-doubles in the 2007 regular season, bringing her career total to seven.

Nogueras led the team with 392 digs (2.82 digs/game) and was also the team leader with 60 service aces, while ranking fourth on the team in kills (238), and blocks (74).

The sophomore was named to two All-Tournament Teams during 2007, and was the Most Valuable Player of the Eckerd College Classic at the beginning of the season.  The setter was the 2006 AVCA South Region Freshman of the Year.

The Saint Leo University volleyball team (24-14, 6-10 SSC) reached the NCAA Division II National tournament for the second consecutive season in 2007, and established a new program record for single-season wins (24).
