Saint Leo, Fla. (October 13, 2007) – The Saint Leo University volleyball team (20-7) moved within two wins of the single-season record for victories with a 3-1 win over the University of West Georgia (21-8) on Saturday afternoon at the Bowman Center.  The Lions won their fifth match in a row and finished the weekend 3-0 with game scores of 30-17, 26-30, 30-23 and 30-21.

Saint Leo setter Michelle Nogueras (So., Cayey, Puerto Rico) had her second straight triple-double, and fifth of the season with 41 assists, 11 digs and 10 kills.  Junior middle blocker Emily Frey (Jr., Mason, Ohio) had a career-high 14 kills, as she hit .522 and added seven blocks and five digs in the win.  Chelsea Armer (So., San Jose, Calif.) added 12 kills for the Lions.

The Lions cruised victory in game one, but the Wolves battled back to even the match with a 30-26 win in game two.  SLU closed game three with a 14-7 run to take a 2-1 lead in the match, and then sealed the win with a key 9-1 run midway through game four.

SLU outhit UWG .259 to .100, and had 13 team blocks compared to seven for the Wolves.  Carolin Schoeneck led the visitors with a game-high 15 kills.

Saint Leo will return to Sunshine State Conference action on Wednesday when the Lions travel to Lakeland, Fla. to face Florida Southern College at 7:00 p.m.
