St. Petersburg, Fla. (October 12, 2007) - The Saint Leo University volleyball team (18-7) got eight kills apiece from Emily Frey (Jr., Mason, Ohio), Kaitlin McKenna (Fr., Farmington Hills, Mich.) and Leah Perry (Fr., Salem, Ohio) to sweep Valdosta State University (9-16) on Friday morning in the first match of the Florida-Georgia Challenge at Eckerd College's McArthur Center in St. Petersburg, Fla.

The Lions controlled the match from the start, winning the match with game scores of 30-17, 30-20 and 30-26 en route to their third straight win.

Saint Leo also got seven kills from both Audrey Starkebaum (Jr., Haxtun, Colo.) and Jenna Jordan (So., Plant City, Fla.).  Michelle Nogueras (So., Cayey, Puerto Rico) added four kills, nine digs and 40 assists in the win.  VSU held a 7-6 edge in total team blocks.

SLU returns home later this evening to face Nova Southeastern University in a Sunshine State Conference match at 7:00 p.m.  The Lions will host four matches tomorrow in the final day of action at the 2007 Florida-Georgia Challenge.  The Lions will face West Georgia at noon in their lone match on Saturday.
