Smithfield, R.I. (September 14, 2007) – The Saint Leo University volleyball team (11-3) swept both CW Post and Bentley College during the opening day of play at the Bryant University Tournament in Smithfield, R.I.
Saint Leo sophomore setter Michelle Nogueras (Cayey, Puerto Rico) had her second career triple-double versus CW Post in the Lions’ tournament opener with 10 kills, 40 assists and 10 digs.
The Lions defeated CW Post 34-32, 30-23, 30-23 an then continued their perfect start to the weekend by beating Bentley 30-28, 30-25, 30-17.
Saint Leo was led on the evening by Kaitlin McKenna (Fr., Farmington Hills, Mich.) and Chelsea Armer (So., San Jose, Calif.) who had a combined 24 kills in the two matches. McKenna hit .697, while Nogueras had a combined total of 14 kills 64 assists and 15 digs.
Armer was close to her first career triple-double against Bentley, as she registered a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs versus Bentley.
The Lions will conclude the Bryant University Tournament on Saturday with a pair of matches. Saint Leo will face Mercy College at noon and Bloomfield College at 2:00 p.m.
