Pensacola, Fla. (September 8, 2007) – The Saint Leo University volleyball team (8-2) swept a pair of matches at the Argonaut Regional Crossover hosted by the University of West Florida on Saturday.

The Lions defeated both Southern Arkansas and Albany State in three games to open the tournament with a perfect 2-0 record.  SLU won 30-25, 30-26, 30-24 over Southern Arkansas and then cruised to a 30-15, 30-21, 30-16 sweep of Albany State.

Freshman middle blocker Kaitlin McKenna (Farmington Hills, Mich.) led the Lions with a combined 24 kills, as she hit .559.  Sophomore setter Michelle Nogueras (Cayey, Puerto Rico) totaled 84 assists while senior libero Eni Lukacs (Bradenton, Fla.) had 27 digs in the two matches.

Chelsea Armer (So., San Jose, Calif.) led the Lions in the opening match versus Southern Arkansas, as she had a game-high 13 kills while Nogueras had 44 assists in the three-game win.

In the second match of the day McKenna hit .857 with a game-high 13 kills.  The Lions hit .467 as a team versus the Rams and limited Albany State to .081.

Saint Leo will continue play in the Argonaut Regional Crossover on Sunday, as the Lions will face Northern Michigan at 12:15 p.m. ET and then take on 2006 NCAA Division II National Runner-Up and No. 22 North Alabama at 4:45 p.m. ET.  Both matches can be followed online courtesy of UWF’s live statistics service by CLICKING HERE.
