Lakeland, Fla. (August 31, 2007) – The Saint Leo University volleyball team pushed its record to a perfect 6-0 with a 3-0 sweep of Lees-McRae College (4-1) at the Florida Southern Classic at the Jenkins Field House in Lakeland, Fla. Friday afternoon.  The Lions swept an opponent for the third straight match, winning 30-14, 30-20, 30-18.

Emily Frey (Jr., Mason, Ohio) and Kaitlin McKenna (Fr., Farmington Hills, Mich.) led the Lions to the win, as both registered 11 kills and hit over .700.  McKenna hit a team-high .733, while Frey hit .714 leading a Lions team that hit .391 in total.  Michelle Nogueras (So., Cayey, Puerto Rico) totaled 38 assists, while senior libero Eni Lukacs (Bradenton, Fla.) led the team with 12 digs defensively.

The Lions took charge of the match from the start, as they took a commanding lead in game one and never looked back en route to the 30-14 victory in the opening game.  The second game was close early on, as Lees-McRae enjoyed an 11-10 lead before Saint Leo ripped off seven straight points and eventually won by the 10-point margin.

SLU wrapped up its third straight sweep, and fourth in six matches, by scoring the opening the third game with the first six points and cruising to the 30-18 win.

Saint Leo will continue play at the Florida Southern Classic tomorrow when the Lions face Nebraska-Omaha at 11 a..m. and Pittsburg State at 2:30 p.m.
