Saint Leo, Fla. (September 27, 2006) – The Saint Leo University volleyball team (12-4, 3-2 SSC) defeated Eckerd College (10-7, 1-4 SSC) in four games in a Sunshine State Conference match Wednesday night.  Saint Leo won the match by the scores of 27-30, 30-26, 30-21 and 30-22.

Saint Leo was led by freshman setter Michelle Nogueras (Cayey, P.R.) who totaled seven kills and a .294 hitting percentage to go along with 57 assists and one solo block, and freshman outside hitter  Chelsea Armer (San Jose, Calif.) who added a match-high 30 kills and a .292 hitting percentage.  For Eckerd, junior middle blocker Leigh Badoyen led the way with 12 kills.

Saint Leo hit .258 as a team for the match, while Eckerd hit .166.  The Lions fell behind early, dropping the first game, however, they rebounded to win the next three to clinch the match.

Saint Leo will next play at home on Friday night in a conference match against Rollins College (7:00 p.m.).
