Kendall Dawson joined the Saint Leo University softball coaching staff in January 2013 after an outstanding playing career ath the University of Alabama.  The former catcher played four years as a member of the Crimson Tide and was a National Champion in 2012, her senior season.

Dawson will serve as the team's bench coach and will assist Kinberger in both infield and catcher development. Additionally, she will be the team's academic liaison, in addition to recruiting and travel coordinator.

A native of Plant City, Fla., Dawson spent four seasons with the Alabama Crimson Tide. While in Tuscaloosa, Dawson was a two-time Southeastern Conference All-Defensive team honoree, as well as an All-SEC second team selection as a senior. Academically, Dawson also excelled as she earned her place on the SEC Academic Honor Roll as a junior and senior.

On the field, Dawson reigned supreme behind the plate compiling a .988 fielding percentage. In total, she committed only 18 errors in 1,507 chances and threw-out a program-record 44-of-80 base runners.

Her four-year efforts on the field culminated with the Crimson Tide winning the 2012 College World Series over the Oklahoma Sooners, two games to one. 

Dawson's best all-around season came as a junior as she threw-out 17-of-22 base runners, while posting a career-best 21 RBI.

Playing in 201 total contests, Dawson made 161 starts. The defensive standout also shined at the plate as she collected 23 extra-base hits and 57 RBI over the course of her four seasons.
