Softball earns Easton/NFCA Academic honors

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Twelve Saint Leo softball players were named 2015-16 Easton/NFCA Division II Scholar-Athletes, as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Thursday, Oct. 6, after their success in the classroom during the 2015-16 season. 

The Lions' 12 student-athletes, Brittany Creamer, Kendal LeFrancois, Sommer Pollard, Samantha Tyler, Ciara McCoy, Stephanie Adkins, Danielle Ferrara, Tiffany Thompson, Alana Tabel, Morgan Mobley, Bailey McKenna and Brooke Samios-Uy, were among over 5,000 athletes who garnered Easton/NFCA Scholar-Athlete honors.

Saint Leo's softball team ranked 33rd out of the 78 Division II teams that earned the 2015-16 Easton/NFCA Division II All-Academic Team honor, with a 3.436 GPA.

There were seven teams that made up the 62 student-athletes from the Sunshine State Conference named to the list, led by Saint Leo and Barry each with 12. Rollins and Florida Tech were next in line with 11 a piece with Lynn at eight, Palm Beach Atlantic with seven and Nova Southeastern at one. 

Florida Tech and Lynn tied with team GPAs at 3.470 where the Panthers were ranked 23rd and the Fighting Knights in 24th. Rollins came in the team standings at 27th with a 3.460 with Saint Leo in 33rd, 3.436, Barry in 42nd, 3.395, and Palm Beach Atlantic in 78th, 3.040.
