Lions’ Pitching Staff Combined for a Shut-out; Team collects 13 hits over West Chester

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Saint Leo softball team won its 10th game in its last 11 outings defeating West Chester 7-0, Tuesdayat the National Training Center.

The Lions (20-12) totaled 13 hits while allowing only one hit from the Golden Rams.

Michelle George highlighted the contest for the Lions while going 3-for-3, scoring two runs and collecting two RBI.  Cassie Boggs went 1-for-3 and scored three runs for Saint Leo. 

West Chester's starting pitcher, Katie Erb, gave up five runs through 4.2 innings before being relieved.  The Golden Rams (10-2) could not get anything going as they would only register one hit and reach on walks three other times. 

The Lions' scoring consisted of a run in the second, four runs in the fourth, one run in the fifth, and one in the seventh.  

Ashley Ehlers (6-2) pitched 3.0 innings in the win, and gave up just one hit and allowed no walks and no runs.  Alana Tabel worked 2.0 innings, allowed no hits, only one walk and struck out one.  Sara Steiner closed out the game for Saint Leo working the final 2.0 innings and allowed no hits, one walk and struck out four batters. 

The Lions return to action tomorrow, March 19th at 1 p.m. against the Dutch National Team at University Softball Stadium.
